What is sadesati - saturn transit in astrology

Hello readers.. am back with one of the most important chapter in vedic astrology.  If you are a astrology scholar you would have come over the word "Sadesati".

What is sadesati or elinati shani?

Sadesati is the saturn's transit over natal moon in birth chart. Sade means 7 and sati mean 1/2. Sadesati means 7 1/2 saturn transit period, it is also called as elinati shani in south Indian astrology. In Indian astrology sadesati has been given a prominent role. As per vedic astrology this seven and half period is said to be deadliest one. One faces many ups and down and comeup with may difficulties and challenges.

When sadesati period begins?

This phase for a native begins when saturn enters the 12th house from natal moon. Suppose if your moon is in aries, so your sadesati begins when saturn enters the pisces zodiac sign and end at tarus sign.

Is sadesati dreadful?

Many people feels pressure when they hear about this phase coming to their life. Yes, sadesati is dreadful one, Saturn is a discipline by nature, so here he teaches you many lessons and gives fruit according to it.  But everyone does not faces difficulties, there are examples who became rich in sadesati and some become rich to poor.

Is sadesati benefic or malefic?

Sadesati is not malefic for everyone also not benefic for everyone. The effects are based on the dhaiya. Dhaiya means one entire period sign saturn complete. Saturn usually takes 30 years to transit all the 12 zodiac signs. Means it takes atleast 2.1/2 year to complete one zodiac sign. This 2.1/2 is called dhaiya.

The benefic or malefic effect depends on phases. Since sadesati means 7.1/2 years, it takes 7.1/2 years to complete three zodiac signs. Each rotation is treated as phases. For a clear picture if you are aries moon sign native, sadesati begins when saturn enters in pisces, means saturn is in 12th house from natal moon this is called phase one, this is also called rising phase. And next phase saturn in aries itself, this is called peak stage and finally in tarus called setting phase (3rd phase).

Effects of saturn according to phases?

Not everyone will faces difficulties in all three phases. Some may face severe in rising phase means first phase, some may face severe in peak phase and some face severe in setting phase.

Effects of phase 1 - rising phase.

This face begins when Saturn enters 12th house from natal moon. Since 12th house governs losses, hidden talents and foriegn trips. So you probably will face loss( loss means not only money, it may also be loss of family, loss of relationship and loss of health).

Effects of phase 2 - Peak phase.

This face begins when Saturn enters 1st house from natal moon means in moon itself. Since 1st house is self image. You may face some humiliations, you may get depressed and become lean. You feel lonely, you understand the real you.

Effects of phase 3 - Setting phase.

This phase begins when Saturn enters 2nd house from natal moon. Since 2nd house governs lands and properties. You face problems related to this.

The question arises who face difficult phase as per moon sign.

Here guys this is the important for every zodiac signs to understand which phase is going to be difficult.

For aries moon sign - 2nd phase is most dangerous. 1st phase is neutral and 3rd phase is good.

For Tarus moon sign - 1st phase is difficult and rest other are neutral.

For Gemini moon sign - 3rd phase is difficult and rest are neutral, but the effects depends on position of saturn.

For Cancer moon sign - 3rd phase is difficult and rest other are neutral.

For Leo moon sign - 2nd phase is difficult and rest other are neutral

For Virgo moon sign - 1st face is difficult, 2nd phase is neutral or difficult depends on position of saturn and ashtakvarga concept ( I will explain this below) and 3rd phase is benefic.

For Libra moon sign - 1st phase is neutral, 2nd phase is benefic and third phase is difficult.

For Scorpio moon sign - 1st phase is benefic, 2nd phase is difficult and 3rd phase is neutral.

For Saggitarus moon sign - 1st phase is difficult, 2nd phase is neutral and 3rd phase is benefic.

For Capricorn moon sign - 1st phase is neutral or other two faces are benefic and again depends on Ashtakvarga.

For Aquarius moon sign - 1st phase, 2nd phase is benefic and 3rd phase is neutral.

For Pisces moon sign - 1st phase is benefic, 2nd phase is neutral and 3rd phase is difficult.

Now again.. do you know some may recieve more benefits during this period, some may achieve their dreams during this period. It depends on ashtakvarga.. suppose in the ashtakvarga, Saturn having more than 3 benefic dots it means the process rises very high and becomes wealthly. Now again it depends on position and nature of planet. If saturn is sitting in good sign and ruling good house one may not face difficult in any phase. However, they undergo little struggles.
